It is so incredibly frustrating to me that Arena is testing hyper-competitive Brawl instead of introducing a Gladiator queue. 100 card competitive singleton makes more sense WITHOUT a Commander. The format is good. It's even Ranked-friendly and works for Best of Three.

I've been working on a Hama, the Bloodbender list. And in talking about it at the office, @jordanpigeon.bsky.social and I came to the realization that Hama returns the spell once cast to it's owner's graveyard. So if your opponent has an Essence Flux (et al) in their bin, she goes infinite.

I had a ton of fun at the Avatar prerelease! My deck felt fast and consistent with a few huge bombs. Went Orzhov despite picking the Toph kit and it paid off!

I'm working on a whole Toph deck for a future episode and she is SO much cooler than she looks. Honestly, this commander has me more excited than any in a long time. One card: Aggressive Mining

Much of the Avatar bonus sheet looks genuinely terrible. These are Commander staple cards with poor choices of scenes, cropping, and no touching up. The colors are often off and the flavor is hot or miss. It's worse than the Final Fantasy bonus sheet. A big miss in what looks like a good set.

I've seen a lot of concern about staying within the "rules" of each bracket; and would like to reiterate that these are not rules. They are the average expectations of players in that kind of game. If your deck doesn't meet those expectations, you can ALWAYS mention it to adjust those expectations.

Something to keep in mind for these brackets is that they're conversation tools. If you're playing an aggro or voltron deck that *could* take a player out before the "correct" turn, tell the other players. These aren't supposed to be rigid. It's about aligning expectations, not defining power-level.

No major changes to the Brackets this time, but we've been working on clarifying some of the ~*vibes~* around each Bracket, including adding "safe turns" and delineating expectations for decks, win conditions, and gameplay. We've also removed tutor restriction from 1 & 2.

I think about this playmat more than most pieces of art. I bought this thing before I got out of bed this morning.
