I had a ton of fun at the Avatar prerelease! My deck felt fast and consistent with a few huge bombs. Went Orzhov despite picking the Toph kit and it paid off!

Full art for the Game Knights @commandcast.bsky.social dueling dragons kickstarter playmats! A really fun challenge to create two mirrored pieces that connect together, but also work separately. They came up with the idea for growth and decay, and I decided to go with dragons 🐲

Much of the Avatar bonus sheet looks genuinely terrible. These are Commander staple cards with poor choices of scenes, cropping, and no touching up. The colors are often off and the flavor is hot or miss. It's worse than the Final Fantasy bonus sheet. A big miss in what looks like a good set.

I've seen a lot of concern about staying within the "rules" of each bracket; and would like to reiterate that these are not rules. They are the average expectations of players in that kind of game. If your deck doesn't meet those expectations, you can ALWAYS mention it to adjust those expectations.

Something to keep in mind for these brackets is that they're conversation tools. If you're playing an aggro or voltron deck that *could* take a player out before the "correct" turn, tell the other players. These aren't supposed to be rigid. It's about aligning expectations, not defining power-level.

No major changes to the Brackets this time, but we've been working on clarifying some of the ~*vibes~* around each Bracket, including adding "safe turns" and delineating expectations for decks, win conditions, and gameplay. We've also removed tutor restriction from 1 & 2.

I think about this playmat more than most pieces of art. I bought this thing before I got out of bed this morning.

Commander players, stop targeting commanders with Path to Exile and Assassin's Trophy especially in the early game. Giving them an extra land in the early game is dangerous. And they can always recast it (using that extra land you gave them). They are far more effective in the late game.

I've never had an artifact commander deck stick around (RIP Brudiclad, Eloise, Ratchet & more). Who is the artifact commander that I just have to try?

This is your semi-annual reminder that an Endless Detour can solve any problem and that 3-color cards are sick, but you have to remember to not default to 1-color staples while deckbuilding.

I’m sympathetic to the folks that are exhausted by UB sets they don’t resonate with. But I really don’t think Spider-Man is this soulless cash grab they accuse it of being. The set has a lot of charming cards featuring top-down design that I think will make for unique, funny moments in games.
