I did 2 pick-two drafts at this event and had a ton of fun! Raphael, the Nightwatcher was sick in my first limited deck and even sicker in my opponent's (he had one too). I was playing UR artifacts with a low curve and neat synergies.

I've done 4 drafts of Lorwyn now: trophied twice, 0-3ed twice. Of course, we only show off the trophies. 1. GW Kithkin with a bunch of anthem effects. Chicken Knight is REAL in Kithkin. 2. GB Elves with a pile of rares. Started Kithkin until I got passed a late Morcant's leader in P1 and pivoted.

I've been thinking about possible Commander variants/restrictions that lower power level in interesting and rewarding ways for months. One was suggested in our comments years ago: Choose a Commander. All cards in the 99 must have a printing from the same plane.

Huh, found a pretty coy way people are brewing for Sanaar in brawl. Essentially, play the cards that make multi/mono color tokens that are different from Sanar colors to take full advantage of the Vivid trigger. While you still technically only getting two cards...ya dig more which is neat.

Went to a cube event in LA this weekend! Here’s what I built (feat. playmat from Lucky Paper Radio/ @stitcherssupply.bsky.social) Vintage Cube: This was my speedy Grixis artifacts deck. Not quite perfect, but very explosive and fun to play. 2-1. Lost to Boros aggro.

My Magic hot take for the weekend. Ignore the TMNT cards. Stay off the subreddit, do not engage. Just go and enjoy the incredible set that is Lorwyn Eclipsed. A bunch of folks put a lot of love into this set, and it deserved its time to shine.

It is so incredibly frustrating to me that Arena is testing hyper-competitive Brawl instead of introducing a Gladiator queue. 100 card competitive singleton makes more sense WITHOUT a Commander. The format is good. It's even Ranked-friendly and works for Best of Three.
