I started sharing my writing online in 2015, and if it weren’t for all the wonderfully kind people leaving comments and encouraging my (somewhat crude) writing (compared to now), I would have felt a lot less motivated to continue 🥹 All of them shaped me and kept me going; made me want to improve.

there's a XV fic that I will not name that made me feel so insanely seen on so many levels that I wrote a two-part essay in the comments crying about how deeply touched I felt. went back to reread, and in the comments the author had left that they were working on one last chapter for the readers.

Around when I began writing and didn’t have any confidence in my writing, I had this one follower who would comment every chapter of my fic so nicely I ended up writing more than 150 K words. They would comment what they read and what it made them feel. Now I’ve written about 80 fics, 6 long ones.

my favorite comments are the ones where a person invites me to discuss the characters, the story, our interpretation of the original artwork itself. Obviously, I like praise as much as the next person, but I think commenting is bigger than that. it's about fandom as conversation!

Comments are my life force 😭 they keep me going, for real. A lot of the time, they point out positives I failed to recognize in my work, and allow me to foster new skills I wasn't aware I was developing. Commenters are the best 🖤🖤

I still remember way back when I got a comment that literally lifted me out of writers block cause it was so sweet. It was on an anon fic of mine and I'll never forget it

I will never forget the page-long comment on my longfic that was actually getting into the fic. It was a college online discussion board’s wet dream and I loved every line of it. Comments re-affirm my at times shaky confidence in my skills to tell engaging stories and that is priceless, really ☺️🥰😭🙏

Comments are a big part of what makes fandom a community! I love having conversations with commenters, both because it's fun in its own right and because I get a lot of inspiration from them <3 Also, when someone leaves me a long/detailed/gushing comment, I print it out and put it on my fridge

The love and enthusiasm readers share with me each time a new chapter is released fills me with so much joy. Not only that, but during those moments where I'm struggling to write, rereading comments helps me to remember that my readers have faith in me, and it gives me the strength to keep going. ❤️

Especially writing crazy specific stuff for not very popular characters/ships, every comment communicating that my writing has reached someone means the world to me. 💜

Not inspired per se, but I will be forever grateful for the wonderful comments on my very first smut. They made me believe in my skills and pushed me to write more spicy scenes. 🥰

One of my favorite comments I’ve received recently was a few days after the election. It was on a fic that’s very heavily about American homophobia and freedom, and just reading it made me feel seen, supported, connected to people who want more than this awful situation. ❤️

Sometimes I write some insanely fucked up stuff and then someone tells me they feel seen. And that's what it's all for, really

Genuinely I'd trade all the kudos for more comments. Comments about how the characters make you feel, how the story intrigues you, the things you picked up on or noticed, all of that makes me so happy. It makes me want to write like nothing else does, to pour effort in.

I honestly would have stopped writing if it wasn't for some comments. They not only inspire me to write but remind me why sharing feels so important. I love the interaction so much! And sometimes I put something in the fic because a commenter gave me a great idea. ♡♡

me telling the writer of a fic that i read when i was 18 how much i loved it and how it still resonates with me today only to find they had bookmarked one of MY fics in the last year kind of made me frow up and cry

As a writer, comments are everything! They inspire me to keep going. Confirm that the thing I did worked. Even pointed out a thing that I was doing that I didn't realize I was doing? I wish I was a better replier, but if you've ever left me a comment know that I probs spent an hour gushing over it

man its beautiful being in fandom... like to be able to read a masterpiece of a fic and then be able to tell the creator DIRECTLY how beautiful the fic was and to actually know that they read your comment because they RESPONDED - it just has me kicking my feet like a fangirl 🥺
