The LingComm Grants are back! These grants started in 2020, as "hey let's help get lingcomm projects going during lockdown" They've since run in 2022 and 2024, and thanks to generous folks we've always given out more than expected But they only work if people apply!!! Please share this!!

Our new paper (my first first-author!) is out at International Journal of Applied Linguistics. Read the full paper here: doi.org/10.1111/ijal.... We analyzed the lexical diversity in texts written by 240 human participants and four ChatGPT models to investigate whether they differed, and they did! 🧵

A lot of people think that every international student admitted means one fewer spot for domestic students, when the opposite is more likely true - the tuition revenue international students bring allows public universities to provide substantial discounts to domestic students, improving access.
