As a gamedev, I regularly have a little angel and a little devil speaking to me from either shoulder One is reminding me to be kind to my players and make sure there is always ample room for error And the other is telling me to turn everything into an instant death trap

One last statement about my ladder debacle (for now, at least until I hear back about that bug report): I think I'm just gonna go forward with the assumption that ladder-jumping wont even be a thing for this project. At the end of the day, what I'm making is an adventure game, not a platformer

Ended up submitting a bug report, because I've observed my problem coming up even in an unmodified template as well... 😑 What a *wild* bug though, the player can't ladder jump while climbing up-left, but *only* if the spacebar is what's being used for jumping...

So I just learned if I plug the script for jumping into the input normally used for attacking, this problem with ladder jumping from the Up-Left direction doesn't occur. Because... Because...? 🤨 Well, one piece of the puzzle in place I suppose, but this still isn't making any sense to me...

Be me, implement ladders into game Test whether player can ladder jump Player can ladder jump from any direction *except* Up-Left, and specifically Up-Left; the player can ladder jump from any other direction ... This has gotta be the most bewildering conundrum I've encountered yet in gamedev 🥴

I'm happy to reveal that WARP ZONES will be in Super Sunny World 🌞 (my upcoming NES platformer). They are hard to find, but easy to reach again once you know where they are (similar to Mario Bros). This should make the limited-lives style of gameplay more enjoyable. #nesdev

I don't know who needs to hear this right now, but to any indie devs feeling bad because their game didn't sell or wasn't played as much as you wanted: You still made a god damn video game. You did it, and that's harder than anything most people will do. I'm proud of you, you did great.
