What a fabulous essay.

It may be because I am bad at maths but I am with David Marr in thinking that computational theories add nothing unless they say what predictions they make that other theories don’t, and which predictions, if wrong, prove the theory to be wrong. This includes the free energy principle.

If you mean it is just maths then Of course it is fine so long as the maths is correct. If it is a principle that is meant to apply to the workings of the brain, then I stick with what I said.

Since I was soaking from the rain and flood, the professor told me to go home after I came late. Student life in 🇵🇭 is very hard.

I don’t agree with all of it - there are plenty of straw men in there, IMO - but the theme of the collision between scientific progress and our basic values is maybe even more relevant today…

I'm Gen Z (Zillenial) but when I talked with 20 year olds at a matcha shop about old cartoons, flip phones, and events like 9/11...they had no idea what I was talking about. We're like in the same generation but they made me feel old. Smart phones changed the era A LOT.
