742/1000 The Statler Brothers, "Flowers on the Wall" - We once were so starved for curation that film directors played an outsized role in rediscovering lost classics. This song's harmonies and banjo floored me when I finally convinced my parents to let me watch Pulp Fiction. #brodystoprock1000

749/1000 Frank Sinatra, "Theme from New York, New York" - So many of my Sinatra faves were released during the rock era. This song is from 1980! You don’t hear Eddie Palmieri songs at parties as much as some of his Fania Records compatriots but his restless artistry was inexhaustible. This is one my favorites of his, where he translates the Beatles’ “You Never Give Me Your Money” as just one idea of many in an explosive salsa jam. RIP.
