A reminder, before a certain movie probably makes a big thing of it again: A young Irish couple did not provide the critical data that made Stagg tell Ike to delay D-Day. The most critical data came from HMS Hoste, alone out in the Atlantic. The Blacksod story is nice. But it's not true. /1

The Arado 232 (1941) incorporated many features which would later be seen on postwar transport aircraft. These included the ability to operate from rough airstrips, a roomy fuselage with high mounted wings and tail, and rear doors with a loading ramp. Only around 20 were built.
