The richest 0.1 percent of the global population are hiding nearly $3 trillion in offshore accounts to evade taxes — more than the wealth held by the entire bottom half of humanity. It would take about $93 billion per year to eradicate extreme hunger by 2030. Taxing the rich is a global necessity.

In 1953 Iran had a functioning democracy. A free press. Seven political parties. Women in universities. Women granted voting rights in municipal councils in 1952. A secular prime minister named Mosaddegh who believed Iran's oil belonged to Iran. The US and Britain decided he had to go.

Really pleased to see this. For decades the education system has been subject to increasing commodification and centralised control. The result has been increased exclusions and reduced mental health for children.

It's so frustrating how the importance of universalism isn't grasped by so many, especially among political elites.
