Big results for Lyman continuum studies. We received over 180 HST orbits + >~30 JWST hours to study it at z<~3!

I think we’ve reached a boiling point when it comes to ICE. Today in Minneapolis, a militarized task force raided the beloved Lake Street taqueria, Las Cuatro Milpas—and the community was not having it. Agents from ICE, the DEA, FBI, ATF, IRS and HHS rolled up looking like they were ready for war.

This is phenomenal. Sea surface temperatures are >5C above average to the west of the UK and around Iceland. It's the strongest area of anomalous warmth on the planet at the moment. It's the warmest in recorded history for northwest Europe.

In my experience exams where a formula sheet is allowed aren't easy, but if you did all the homework and studied the problems you got wrong and carefully made your formula sheet, you were well prepared. If an exam is open book and you haven't studied, you're cooked. TANSTAAFL

All my emails lately start with a version of “thanks for your patience” or “sorry for the late reply” :-(

There are parts of my job that I really don't enjoy doing, and am almost scared of. Accordingly, I over-prepare, and they end up take more time than needed. UFFF....

Astronomers' chat here recently: i) authors complaining that their referee report is late. ii) referees complaining about how many review requests they get. iii) editors complaining that it's hard to find referees. No idea what the solution is, but it feels like the system is close to breaking... 🔭
