I'm an abolitionist but I also absolutely have a Book Jail: The bottom corner of my bookshelf where I put the books that have annoyed me or are by authors who annoy me. Stacked page out so I don't have to see the covers.

I hate socks, but I hate sweaty feet and stinky shoes more. So I spend all day going "oh gawd what's wrong with my feet? What is choking my ankles?" Last night I was feeling so panicked and couldn't remember why & then I remembered I was still wearing socks. We need a better solution.

Did you know that the publishing industry doesn't like big books? It's always been so weird to me, because when I love a book I want it to go on forever. But if you aren't an Obama & you write non-fiction, they usually want 100k words or less...

Great question! This year has definitely radicalized me further, but it's also brought me closer to the heart of the book as our systems become more oppressive. Now we need to fight for each other & care for each other more than ever. But I would add that disruption is a vital part of revolution

Imagine calling yourselves abolitionists & then cackling about the "punishment" you think immigrants & Palestinians deserve. This is what a colonized mind does. This idea of collective punishment is at the root of so much harm done to us, & at the root of genocide. We have to break this pattern.

It is long past time to set aside our fear and access our outrage. Please know that we can build something better than this.

Ok here I am, trying to get used to a new platform at my grown age.
