My colleagues and I have been working to break news + write stories holding powerful people accountable. These are the top stories on our homepage right now, one of which I worked on. Our newsroom work is continuing. No one has ever told me what to write. If that changes, I’d speak out and leave.

All the social media posting in the world isn’t going to fix things. Share info, yes. But call your legislators, get involved with mutual aid groups, become a legal observer, take an accompaniment training. Hope can be found in the work.

After a week of excellent writing sessions, my brain has decided to shut down. Focus is nowhere to be found. Before my ADHD diagnosis I would have beaten myself up but today I’m trying to show myself some compassion. It’s not easy.

It’s mid September so I have painted bats and spiderwebs on my fingernails. Time for spooky season!
