for the longest time i thought the role of chambers of commerce and other business advocacy organizations was to promote the area and get more investments made in town as of late, it seems their role is more to convince everyone that downtown is covered in poop and filled with crime all the time

Rewatch Who Framed Roger Rabbit. That’s it. That’s the post. …. Ok it’s not quite the whole post. The movie doesn’t have to be based on a provable conspiracy, since those are really hard to prove, & it’s a movie with cartoons! But there’s plenty of evidence of dark money attacking public transit.

Like many thriving cities, Utrecht has wide streets with fast-moving, multi-lane car & truck traffic. The key difference is, Utrecht leaders have built safe ways for people walking & biking to cross these streets, and pleasant, separated lanes to travel without a car. Worth trying in your city?

Every time you use OpenAI, Google Gemini, Grok, or any of the other popular AI slop generators, you help in your own small part to make places like Memphis, TN unlivable for certain populations that reside nearby datacenters - even people miles away are subjected to infrasound pollution.

Peak Portland racism is complaining about how hard it is to pronounce a word where the pronunciation is spelled on the fucking sign. Handwringing about which Custer this park was named for does not change one fact: it's stolen land.

The Portland MBA dorks are surveying Oregonian "entrepreneurs" to report to Gov Kotek. It would be a shame if more proletarians took this survey and answered based on their needs and desires rather than those of business owners.
