Recreated the Apple Photos UI with React Aria in just ~200 lines! Complete with virtualized scrolling, view transitions, adjustable waterfall layout, folder tree, search, multi-selection, and accessible drag and drop. Just one of the demos I'm planning for the new docs. 🙂

Remember when in the late 90s / early 2000s someone came up with a way to hire 10 developers for the same price as your current devs. Same competence level. Same output per dev. It should have led to 10x the output. It was called “offshoring.” It’s NOT what happened…

This also means you’re tooling and workflows have to be set up to allow for easy iteration. If it’s only easy to do something the first time, but it’s a pain to change any of it later, then the tool has failed. Iteration is part of all work, so always think of workflows as repeatable instances.

Now THIS is what a customer-centric app is. Most banks keep sending out warning emails about impersonation and scams. Any app can implement this capability with a little coding + backend work (assuming their BE sensible enough): and yet Monzo is the first one I’ve heard do it.

OK we got this working in < 3 hours, coming in cold turkey to a new codebase (with some help with the bitwarden devs!). Absolutely fun and nuts.
