One weekend I was covering pulm consults for three hospitals in two counties. I did a thora on a patient and as I was leaving the room, a hospitalist asked me if I could do the para, too because GI wouldn’t and he couldn’t.

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times: a paracentesis is an internal medicine procedure. As is a Pap smear/speculum exam.

We get multiple inpatient consults daily for home NIV evaluation. Many patients have been qualified for a device in the past, but didn't use it. In most cases I defer to outpatient discussion, when they are at their stable baseline. Seems like...

I’ve been thinking about the barriers to mobility in the ICU. Most are resource based, but I also thought about RSI. I use roc, which necessitates an hour or so of deep sedation (usually prop gtt), which then works against us getting back to awake and calm. I don’t want to switch to sux though.

A nice thing about small towns. A neighbor babysits me as a kid. I grow up and take care of her dad as a patient. She teaches my kid in middle school. I paint a pic of her and her dad as a thank you. Life is so much more meaningful through our connections. #MedSky

Coming off of nights so I was up by myself last night wide awake. I crocheted and watched the entire season of Untamed and every twist and turn really had me hook, line, and sinker.

For the record, I do hate the Cracker Barrel rebrand.

Between the anticipated temperature drop, it being late August, and being on nights this week I've held off on spooky season shopping as long as I could.
