We’re missing basic civics here. It’s Congress—not the President—that has the constitutional power to call out the Guard. Congress’s laws let presidents deploy under narrow, specific circumstances. For nearly 250 years, courts have enforced those limits to prevent abuse of power.

“Evenly divided” here means half of the private school vouchers go to families making less than the ~$170,000 limit, which is 95% of Tennessee families and half go to families making even more, which is the wealthiest 5% of Tennesseans.

It’s oddly comforting when people who push deeply immoral public policy are shown to be horrible people generally. Like, it would be unsettling if Homan were a straight arrow who paid for operations for orphans.

Here’s the deal. Regardless of what Kimmel said, ABC made this decision only in response to an overt threat from the government. That’s not how America is supposed to work. The government isn’t supposed to control who gets to talk.
