nursery this morning to dig up the remaining 75 hedge whips. They are a mix of Rowan, Wayfaring Tree, Dogwood, Hazel, Spindle, and Oak that have grown from locally sourced seeds that we sowed in October and November 2022. Going to boost a hedge in

today with the help of the marvellous Dave Boddington! That makes 210 boxes that Lewes Swift Supporters have installed so far! Four of the boxes near existing colonies were installed free of charge using a grant from Chalk Cliff Trust.

Another double Peak

today - and painted the older box where Swifts bred successfully last year. We had a chance to look inside at the Swifts nesting space - they had crushed or removed most of the old Sparrow nest to make a very firm base.

Climate Hub this afternoon. This Copper Beech was planted in 1989 to replace a tree lost in the 1987 storm.

, by our team today! They are 8 Sorbus thuringiaca Fastigiata, (Hybrid Whitebeam), and 8 Prunus padus, (Bird Cherry). We planted 30 trees there last Sunday and will be back next weekend to plant 11 more.

We hoped that the fine weather over the summer would help towards a recovery in insect numbers, and we seemed to see more while monitoring the

. However, according to Buglife, their survey suggests a 19% decrease year by year.
