For the love of God DO NOT Give pets as Xmas gifts. Too many of these “gifts” end up at the shelter . A Dog/Cat is a gift we give ourselves and they come with many sacrifices. Time,money, and a certain amount of collateral damage in their puppyhood.

I taught my children that we don't go into the forest, but into the animals' house. Their house, because that's where they live, sleep, and eat. When we're guests in the animals' house, we know how to behave so that the world there remains in order. All the plants and trees benefit from this, too.
