I teach at a public school for Brown and Black girls. We teach the stories, histories and achievements of Brown & Black peoples. I don't know how much longer my school will exist but so long as it does I will teach. Joyfully. And there's nothing that can take that away.

I have long maintained that it's not just about accessibility to teacher ed programs; the programs themselves need to change. We can't push deeper learning and culturally responsive ped in the classrooms but not prepare teachers for how to implement those systems.

This serves as my almost daily reminder that a free, appropriate education is also a human right. The demonizing of public education is a plan that snatches the gift of an education from the poor...and that is the goal. #teachers #savepubliceducation #saveourschools #righttoread #literacyforall
