All a bit of an experiment really, isometric jungle - I had a 9-5 zoom meeting today so spent most of it drawing (helps me focus). Not sure if at some point an isometric map reaches a detail overload. Once I chuck it into photoshop we’ll see if it holds up.

Option 2 for one page dungeon 2025: it’s a castle ballroom with a big split down the middle… climbing thru the rift brings you into a dark reversal of the castle. I think this has to do with dark secrets. Like the ballroom opened up and all the aristocracy’s darkest dreams are on the other side.

Question for the old school dnd folks - how do you handle player absence mid dungeon/wilderness? Do characters go back to town? Do you say they’re still with the party? In 5e I’d just hand wave it but we’ve been so precise with tracking rations, torches, time etc. it feels wrong to do that. #osr

In 2018 I started a campaign of 5e Dungeon of the Mad Mage. Not thinking it would last long I planned for the dumbest end game I could imagine. I decided to fit every major D&D villain into the dungeon and structure it as a race to kill the Mad Mage (I’d just watched Jojo part 7 and felt inspired 🙄)

All the WoTC monster manuals are deeply uninspiring. To the point where I’ve started running monsters for high level D&D without using them. Here’s my method: 1) Write down a cool cinematic attack idea to open the fight. 2) Run it. Improvise the mechanics in a way that feels fair.

DnD Reddit is going off on a dude who posted a puzzle that his DM gave him. The usual puzzle complaints: too meta-gamey, nobody likes puzzles, frustrating, Int18 would know the solution… and I’m so confused… where did the anti-puzzle coalition come from? Why is the common wisdom to hate them?

I’ve finished the full 4 levels of Rakshasa themed dungeon. As far as maps go, it’s a little overwhelming but I’ll take that as a lesson. I was working on drawing lava but I think I got better at drawing tigers too - the bathhouse tigers are SIGNIFICANTLY better. Question is… what do I work on now?

Lessons for #TTRPGs & #Dnd that I learned at Clown school 🤡 In 2013/14 I went to Paris to study under a famous French clown teacher. It was amazing and also fkn awful (a story for another time). I learned a lot but weirdly, this experience has come to inform how I GM.

I don’t believe in superior playstyles for ttrpgs only preference. Collaborative storytelling is fine. Random encounters and emergent storytelling is fine. I recon even DM railroading for the sake of story is fine. Just as long as everyone is on board, it’s all fine. #osr #dnd

The Grimerie in Wicked is so freaking cool. The triangular design, the folding open, the way the spells lift off the page as they’re cast, and the simple quirk that spells cast from the Grimerie are irreversible (makes it so sinister). I love it so much. My new favourite magic item in media.
