Y’all keep giving awards shows too much authority. They gave the Critic’s Choice Best Foreign Language Film Award during a fucking red carpet interview segment and didn’t give the director a chance to give a speech. A reminder that all awards shows are bullshit.

Tonight’s movie was a continuation of my chronological watch of Studio Ghibli and it was Porco Rosso. Loved it! It says a lot about Ghibli that a movie I loved might be my least favorite so far. Either that or Totoro. I really enjoyed both, but both are the weaker movies so far for me.

People talk a lot about how certain things in ttrpgs are hard. And that’s because it’s a lot of skills. You’re going to be bad at most of them for a while. Practice! Do it more! If I picked up a paint brush, anything I made would look terrible. If I practiced, I’d improve!

So I just finished watching Anora and… I don’t get it. It’s a 2/5 on it’s best day and that’s due entirely Mikey Madison’s acting. This is not a good movie. Sean Baker continues to really disappoint.

You can really tell in the rpg community who likes talking about games because they genuinely like games and who likes talking about games because they genuinely like attention.

Absolutely agreed here, and I want to add, these Chalamet movies were third in the Box Office each year. So he’s the king of third place. The fact that a genre film like Sinners made as much as it did is WAY MORE impressive.

My top five movies of 2025. 1. Train Dreams (almost broke into my top 4 of all time) 2. Sinners 3. Wake Up Dead Man 4. Bring Her Back 5. Weapons (considering how much I hated Barbarian, this is surprising) HM: Superman, One Battle After Another, Warfare, The Naked Gun, Song Sung Blue.

The more I watch physical media, the more I see how terrible the major streamers quality is. Movies on Netflix, etc, look so much worse than a Bluray. Like, it’s not even close. Even DVDs upscaled on my ps5 look better. I do not believe these streamers when they say they’re streaming in 4k.

My mom wanted to see Song Sung Blue, the biopic about the Milwaukee Neil Diamond cover band… so we went to a morning showing today and that movie is so much better than it has any right to be.

I say all the time that you can just tell stories. If you don’t want to play the game part of games, you don’t need to spend money on books and dice and miniatures. You can just tell stories. It’s free!
