Batman/Green Arrow/The Question: Arcadia #1 by Gabriel Hardman Ooh yeah that’s that nice noir storytelling I fucking love. Despite how much set up this was, I loved it. Vic carries the narrative for the most part while Ollie & Bruce stay hot on his tail. I love how obscure this mystery is feeling.

Daredevil/Punisher: The Devil’s Trigger #1 by Jimmy Palmiotti & Tommaso Bianchi This was okay, I wasn’t expecting half of this to be a recap of ‘Welcome Back, Frank’ so that kind of lost my attention for a little bit. The art was solid though, I liked the ending set-up, and the funny back-up story

Absolute Batman #14 by Scott Snyder & Nick Dragotta “Batman always comes prepared” has never been more solidified than in this issue. This was insane, and is hands down one of the best single issues of the year in a year full of greats. It’s one massive cathartic fight scene and I fucking loved it

The New Gods #12 by Ram V & Evan Cagle This was just so stunning and cathartic 😭 the opening drawn by Phil Hester had incredible imagery too. The dialogue throughout this entire issue was wonderful and spoke so strongly to the characters. I’m frothing at any inclination that this could continue now

Nightwing #132 by Dan Watters & Dexter Soy WHOAAAHH THAT SHIT WAS GNARLY AND TWISTED! Zanni is such a cool fucking villain, he’s so menacing and powerful in a way that feels unique to Nightwing, and the way it connects back to Dick’s time as Robin is just 👌. Book just keeps getting better & better

Transformers #26 by Robert Kirkman & Dan Mora Another stellar entry. Just as I began questioning the human involvement it caught me by surprise. I’m also continuing to love how Kirkman is evolving the cybertronian conflict from where DWJ left off and not just resetting the battle to square one.

Superman: The Kryptonite Spectrum #4 by W. Maxwell Prince & Martín Morazzo Golly this was a funny asf issue. I thought I knew what I was getting into with Mxyzptlk but I guess that’s on me for assuming I could predict him. This book really knows how to work a gimmick and I love it.

Beneath the Trees: Rite of Spring #4 by Patrick Horvath This might be the most mean-spirited issue between both series 😭 I didn’t believe Samantha as a person could get even worse than she already was. That cover is fucking immaculate by the way, one of my favorites. We just keep batting 10/10

Mr. Terrific: Year One #6 by Al Letson & Valentine de Landro A very very satisfying ending! I remember being skeptical of the juggling storylines but this book consistently nailed it through and through. A very exciting battle, and the ending really gives me hope for an ongoing Mr. Terrific title

Batman/Deadpool #1 Incredible!!! This part is so much more mind blowing and exciting! Morrison clearly had the time of their life writing Deadpool and I loved the reveals. The Constantine/Dr. Strange story stole the show completely though, Hayden Sherman is one of the best comic artists of all time

Birds of Prey #27 by Kelly Thompson & Sami Basri Another really exciting issue! The cyber-fantasy aesthetics are really cool. It is the penultimate issue and the set up was about what expected, so I’m really excited to see the finale. Shame this series is ending but I’m glad it’s on its own terms.

Batgirl #13 by Tate Brombal & Takeshi Miyazawa The tension in this was so good, the ending sequence was especially nail biting. Cassie’s downward spiral is like a car crash you can’t look away from. I wasn’t sure about the Samsara idea at first but I’m totally sold now after some more development.
