Made my ritual Taiwan trip visit to 台北地下街67 時光屋 ‘TV Game 67’ or ‘Time House’ roughly translated. This is the most condensed location in the country to shop retro games. Not the cheapest, but wow there is always a lot of cool stuff in here.

I collect Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) translations of early gaming and games industry books. Mainly for learning Chinese so I have something interesting to read when studying. Here's a few of the books I have to hand: (The book name in brackets is a direct English translation of the Chinese)

I ended up buying a second hand official dock for cheaper than the crap below. Less than 900NT (30US) for the dock, power supply, and HDMI cable

I checked out my other 8BitDo controllers, all 4 to 6 years old, and the stick caps are definitely disintegrating. Maybe the hard plastic ones aren't such a bad idea. Or metal caps and put a rubber cap/topper on them?

The Surrogates was great. I loved the artwork, it really gives the comic a noir feel, with varying grunge colours giving each scene a distinct identity. I saw the film years ago and loved the concept at the time. It's nice to finally see the source work. Now to watch the film again....

I picked up one of these third party Switch controllers. They're basically bootlegs of the special edition controllers, but they don't carry any Nintendo markings. I paid about $17US for the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Edition, and it's surprisingly good

I ordred a few replacement joysticks caps for the 8BitDo Ultimate Bluetooth. My 5 year old destroyed them, but honestly they seem to have started to disintegrate anyway Incidently, 8BitDo now ships to Taiwan! I think this is new in the second half of 2025

I picked up a SFC Copier recently that names itself "Turbo X 32M." Turns out it's in the Pro Fighter X Turbo line of copiers. It takes SFC and also GameBoy cartridges through the side for GB game dumping, or rewriting to battery-backed(?) "smart cards".

I didn't know you could get these smaller format Simpsons comics books. It's from Otter Press in Australia. I'm used to the larger format ones
