Local movements to rid city streets of AI-powered surveillance cameras used by law enforcement are growing rapidly amid scandals, mounting privacy concerns, and public backlash to mass surveillance under the authoritarian Trump administration.

It's kind of an interesting phenomenon to see it's mostly Democrats who are saying the government should have access to a tool that tracks all cars everywhere. This is a tool that's definitely been used to intercept and roundup immigrants, but opposition to the tech rn is greater among Republicans.

Issaquah CM here. Can confirm the city received a grant to buy Flock cameras and will discuss at upcoming public meetings (details below). I’d recommend anyone with opinions in Issaquah reach out to council. I have serious concerns but will save my own comments for the public meetings.
