Worth re-upping this video about a similar vulnerability exposed in one of Flock's major competitors, Motorola Solutions. The many problems with Flock are common throughout the industry. Flock isn't the problem, surveillance is:

Surveillance makes everyone less safe. When we consider all of the forms of violence these tools can enable, it is clear that these tools are too powerful for anyone to use, not just police. If we're serious about "public safety" then we need to demand an end to surveillance in our communities.

If we don't end the use of surveillance technologies, the tools will only become more pervasive and violent. If we argue against a surveillance tool based upon its "accuracy" or suggest implementing oversight models, we're misunderstanding the problem.

Fusion Centers are a core infrastructure driving the growth of the surveillance industry & apparatus across the US. The recommendation here misunderstands the problem. The issue isn't federal access to Fusion Center data. The problem is the existence of Fusion Centers.

We did it! Hosted another Flock camera community discussion in my rural WA town, and the sheriff came to confirm they won’t be renewing the contract or considering them again. This is why I believe so strongly in neighbor-run town halls, especially trying it before ex: a lawsuit or ballot measure.

If you’re wondering how Flock’s network appeared on our streets in the first place, the answer is more than ironic: In numerous localities Flock simply went ahead without permits and illegally strapped their cameras onto Department of Transportation infrastructure, earning them a ban in two states.
