The naval service has been underfunded for decades. Putting what we have to sea with better tech and buying more surveillance aircraft (or drones) is very straightforward short term goal. Yet we have these ridiculous ideas of buying a token squadron of jet fighters.

Sad to hear this. I used
tickets.ie
for events before and met with the then owner. It was great to see an Irish company go up against the established (almost) monopoly in event ticketing.

“Helps secure” is a telling circumlocution. I, for example, “help secure” the distant grasslands of the Steppes, by constantly not deciding to build a huge Bowling Alley for Giants on them.

This won’t solve the housing problem and comes at a huge cost to both to the environment and at a massive financial cost to the taxpayer. All of those dwellers will want the same services as those living in sustainable communities from sewage to schools.

RIP Marcia Lucas, whose skill as a film editor and storyteller made a clunky independent film called STAR WARS greater than the sum of its parts. Rightly referred to as "Lucas's secret weapon," Marcia had an uncanny talent to see a film from the perspective of an audience--and won an Oscar for it.

It has been a feature of the Irish State for the last 100 years that it peruses policies- I mean, it really goes at them hard- without ever stating those policies at the political level. This leaves our political debates weirdly unreal, as they never get to addressing what the state is doing.

This is a long-shot but I'm desperate. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this noise. Residential area D5. I can't locate the source. It's coming from another house somewhere in the area. All day & all night. Varies in intensity. Wakes me up at night. Utterly maddening. 😡

A lot of people are quick to say they *can't* give up Amazon. Okay, don't. Just don't make it your default. That thing you threw in your basket that you can get elsewhere? Get it elsewhere. If everyone still buying from Amazon reduced their spending by 20%, Bezos would be screaming bloody murder
