I'm married to a former Colbert writer, which means I got to meet him occasionally at holiday parties. This also meant I was the *most unimportant* person at those parties. He remembered my name, joked with me and asked how my writing was going every single time. He's just a really, really nice man.

@stephencolbert.bsky.social has helped with fundraisers for my childrens’ public school, despite having no children who go there. He is polite & friendly to everyone in our neighborhood when he is in town. My kids have never watched his show (because bedtime) but are upset he’s losing his job.
