Finished both PLURIBUS and THE STUDIO and highly enjoyed both. Loved the fascinating world building and the incredible Rhea Seehorn on the first show. While I couldn't get enough of the myriad cameos and sheer Hollywood insanity of the latter.

"Just stay cool and don't make trouble until the midterms" is not going to cut it as an opposition response to a murderous regime whose masked thugs are killing people in the streets and then attempting to round up witnesses and destroy evidence.

Still think it was a worthy gambit. I'm almost certain that if they had attempted to adapt this as one film, it wouldn't have been as critically (and Oscar) lauded compared to Part One. And fans def would've hated the cuts they would've had to do.

The WICKED shut out feels personal honestly. Paul Mescal missing annoys though less for Delroy Lindo and more for Sean Penn. Love seeing all the SINNERS love (record 16 nods!). Whew on Zhao getting director (but shame about GDT). Elordi! Mosaku! Madigan! #Oscars

Was just reminded the Oscar noms are tomorrow. Though I've seen most of the films, I feel weirdly at a distance on it all. Perhaps it's because all my favorite Oscar-y movies are expected to do well and no one I hate is winning precursor awards. Or because ::gestures at everything:: you know.

The video of the HAMNET cast/crew dancing to Rihanna at the end of their shoot (at the Globe set no less) is giving me extraordinary amount of joy. I've watched it a bunch of times already.

Taking down Christmas decorations yesterday was sad. I did leave some lights up because who doesn't love twinkly lights in winter? That said shout out to everyone else who has lights up still especially outside. It brings me joy (and those should be up all winter IMO).

For real. Would've eliminated one of them early thinking one of them surely would have been a traitor because why cast two people so obviously connected? But both have done such a good job not just hanging with each other.

I'm glad Sinners won that absurd award, but the nominees for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement included one movie that had not yet opened (Avatar) and another that had no reported box office (Kpop DH), so we should note that the prize does not even have the integrity of its own corruption.

Happy to see Michelle Williams actually win something for DYING FOR SEX. Her and Jenny Slate were severely under rewarded for what they did for that show.

The seemingly top four films of awards season continues apace with the SAG Awards nominations--One Battle, Sinners, Marty Supreme and Hamnet getting ensemble and multiple individual nods. Great to see Elordi, Byrne and Madigan in the mix as well.

First episode of PLURIBUS achieved and wowsa that was SO good.

Still obsessed with the Heated Rivalry press tour and how it's continuing weeks after the series ended, and while I love Hudson and Connor, I have to say that a very underrated aspect of the tour is François Arnaud showing up stunning everywhere and saying things that are both correct and cunty.

Amanda Seyfried is pretty great in THE TESTAMENT OF ANN LEE. And yet... I think she's better in THE HOUSEMAID? Both are great showcases for her regardless.

I like that rewatching HEATED RIVALRY is such a major thing that there's a name for the act: Reheated Rivalry. Cute. Anyways just rewatched the last two episodes again because why not?

In terms of Richard Linklater's cinematic output this year, I think I prefer NOUVELLE VAGUE over BLUE MOON. Just saw the former today and I found it such a breezy watch. And wow at the technique! FYI, I also haven't seen BREATHLESS nor at all well-versed on the French New Wave.

I missed the boat initially but I've now binged all of THE LOWDOWN and it's great! Obviously I should've known the creator of RESERVATION DOGS wouldn't lead me wrong. And Ethan Hawke truly is a wonder and the cast of characters played by this wonderful ensemble make him even better.

I concur on so many of these. So many. 2025 really was a shit year but there are always things to make it seem a little less hellscapey.

Just saw Spike Lee's HIGHEST 2 LOWEST and just when I thought I gave my brain a break from that gay hockey show, ASAP Rocky raps lyrics* that connects to two of this year's surprise monocultural hits: KPOP DEMON HUNTERS and HEATED RIVALRY. *Apparently it's also a Drake diss, so also monocultural.

Didn't stay for the finale but seeing episode 5 in public with a bunch of fans really is something kinda wonderful.
