Our work is far from finished, and my Democratic colleagues and I are up to the challenge. These wins are just the start — a better future is on the horizon.

Looking back on last week’s floor session, I am immensely proud of all that we did to pass Gail’s Law and postpartum medicaid expansion. Years of persistent advocacy resulted in securing these wins for women and families.

After a long session of Republicans ignoring women's health care in Wisconsin Democrats refused to allow them to ignore it anymore. Now postpartum Medicaid expansion and a bill to expand access to breast cancer screenings have passed.

It’s Public Schools Week! I’m proud to stand with our students, educators, and families who make Wisconsin’s public schools strong. Let’s keep fighting to fully fund and support the schools our communities rely on every day.

Assembly Democrats were unified, determined, and frankly, relentless. I am so proud to have been part of this moment and so relieved that we will soon see this critical bill signed into law.

Moms and their families, advocates across the state, and Legislative Democrats fought for postpartum Medicaid expansion for years. This week, Assembly Democrats refused to take no for an answer and effectively stopped legislative business to force a vote on this bill.

I want to take a moment to recognize the countless people who fought for and won postpartum Medicaid expansion in Wisconsin. This win means that women in our state will keep their healthcare for a full year rather than 60 days after giving birth. This win will save lives.

Proud to vote in support of postpartum Medicaid expansion and breast cancer screening, which is also known as Gail’s Law.

Postpartum medicaid expansion and a bill to expand access to breast cancer screenings have just passed the Assembly and are on their way to Governor Evers’ desk.

I wish Speaker Vos well in his retirement. While we have many differences in our approach to serving Wisconsinites, I want to recognize his many years of public service.

Finally.  The people of Wisconsin have been asking Legislative Republicans to pass postpartum medicaid expansion for years and years and years.

You all did it! Tonight, after months of relentless advocacy, the Republicans caved in tonight and will bring up Gail’s Law expanding breast cancer screening and post-partum Medicaid expansion up for a vote tomorrow. If they’re clean bills, they will be passed and signed into law.

I was proud to sign onto this letter urging Republican leadership to bring Gail’s Law (AB 263 / SB 264) to the Assembly floor for a vote. No one should have to skip lifesaving breast cancer screenings because of cost. This bipartisan bill deserves a vote.

We are business Assembly business today until we take action to move postpartum Medicaid expansion and Gail’s Law forward.

I’m heading back to Wisconsin after a great few days at the 50th NCSL Legislative Summit. I attended sessions on AI, civility, technology’s impact on kids, and elections. I’m excited to bring what I learned back home to Wisconsin.

August is National Black Business Month! This is a time to celebrate, support, and uplift Black-owned businesses that strengthen our communities and drive our economy forward! Let’s shop local, spread the word, and show our support all year round!

I was proud to stand in solidarity with the dedicated nurses at Meriter and SEIU as they advocate for safe staffing, fair contracts, and improved working conditions.

I stand in solidarity with the striking SEIU Meriter Hospital nurses because everyone, in every workplace, deserves fair compensation and safe facilities. Patients deserve better, and Meriter nurses are leading the way.

When we invest in our child care industry, we invest in our children, our workforce, and our future. This should be a no-brainer.

This is great news, but we could be doing even more to bolster Wisconsin’s workforce. My budget would have restored collective bargaining rights and prevailing wage protections, repealed right to work, and bolstered protections for workers. Instead, Republicans gutted it.

ICYMI: Republicans on the state’s budget committee gut key provisions of my budget proposal to prevent property tax increases and provide real, responsible property tax relief for seniors, veterans, homeowners, and renters. Seriously!

Republicans on the Joint Finance Committee cut the “Healthy Meals, Healthy Kids” program from @govevers.wisconsin.gov’ budget, which would have saved working families $1800 on their groceries every school year. That’s ridiculous.

On January 20th, Trump was sworn in to office. 100 days later, he’s crashing our economy, undermining our rights, and appearing to defy court orders. This should alarm people of every political background—our communities and our democracy are in danger.

Here’s the bottom line: While Trump is intentionally crashing our economy and hurting working families, Republicans in the Wisconsin Legislature are doing nothing to offer them a hand.
