It was great to welcome local pharmacists to my office. We had an important conversation about the challenges facing community pharmacies and the essential role they play in ensuring families have access to care close to home.

I had a great meeting during Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association legislative lobby day. We talked about the Ag Roads Improvement Program and how investing in our roads and bridges directly supports the producers who keep Wisconsin’s agricultural economy strong.

It was great to welcome local bankers to my office. We had a thoughtful conversation about the challenges and opportunities facing community banks and the families and small businesses they serve.

I had a great conversation at the Capitol with folks from the Beloit Public Library and the Eager Free Public Library. We discussed the important role our libraries play in the community and how the State Legislature can continue supporting their work moving forward.

Danielle and I had a great time attending the 14th Annual Friends of SPC Ben Neal Meat Raffle in Orfordville. It’s always impressive to see how our community shows up to honor Ben Neal and support VetsRoll.

I had a great time chatting about issues facing credit unions at the Capitol. I also really appreciated hearing from area high school students who are gaining experience by working with Blackhawk Community Credit Union in their high schools.

I appreciated folks from Cooperative Development Services stopping by to talk about co-ops and the work they’re doing across Wisconsin. It was a great conversation about how cooperative models can support local businesses and communities.

I had a great conversation with the Wisconsin Electric Cooperative Association about the important work electric co-ops are doing across our state.

I was honored to join a bipartisan group of legislators in receiving the 2025 Friends of the Wisconsin Agricultural Tourism Association Award. Wisconsin farms are facing rising costs, higher land and water prices, labor shortages, volatile markets, and unpredictable weather.

I had the privilege of speaking briefly about TIF reform at WEDA’s Legislative Day. The Wisconsin Economic Development Association represents economic development professionals working to support responsible growth in communities across the state.

I am deeply concerned by the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old ICU nurse, by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis today, coming just weeks after the killing of Renée Good by an ICE officer.

Recently I spoke at a press conference introducing a package of bills aimed at strengthening and modernizing Wisconsin’s electoral system. I’m leading on two pieces of legislation included in that package.

Senator Mark Spreitzer and I were happy to welcome students from Beloit College to the Capitol. They asked what our work is like and what we enjoy most about serving. I always appreciate the opportunity to talk with students about how state government works.

Last week I had the opportunity to attend a great MLK Day event at Blackhawk Technical College. Judge Everett Mitchell delivered a powerful keynote, and I’m grateful to the sponsors and volunteers who made this event possible.

It was great to attend the MLK Day program hosted by the Concerned Black Citizens of Beloit. Congratulations to Thomas Quillins on being recognized for leadership with the Beloit Junior Golf Association and the positive impact he has had on young people through golf in our community.

I was glad to join @lgsararodriguez.bsky.social at ACTS Housing in Beloit. I first saw ACTS begin its work in Beloit when I was still on the Beloit City Council, and I continue to be impressed by how they help families achieve the dream of homeownership.

The 2026 MLK Commemorative Breakfast was truly inspiring. The program honored Dr. King’s legacy in a powerful way, and the students were especially impressive. Thank you to Michelle Hendrix-Nora and Regina Hendrix for their commitment to Beloit’s youth!

I had a great meeting with members of the Ho-Chunk Nation. We discussed legislation impacting their government and the progress of the Ho-Chunk casino in Beloit. I appreciate the opportunity to work with the Ho-Chunk Nation and look forward to continuing our collaboration.

Assembly Democrats tried today to provide some transparency while WisconsinEye is down, but were blocked again.

For the first time in almost 20 years, you won't be able to watch live as the Assembly votes. We need more transparency for Wisconsinites.

Before winter break, I had the opportunity to join the Beloit NAACP in assembling food bags for students in the Beloit School District. Thank you to everyone who showed up to support our kids. Let’s continue that support throughout 2026.
