I’m excited to be spending some time today serving at Empty Bowls! This is a great opportunity to support a great cause and enjoy good food.

Access to clean drinking water is essential, and PFAS contamination remains a serious challenge across Wisconsin. I was grateful to see bipartisan votes for legislation on PFAS remediation in the Assembly.

Looking back on last week’s floor session, I am immensely proud of all that we did to pass Gail’s Law and postpartum medicaid expansion. Years of persistent advocacy resulted in securing these wins for women and families.

This is the last night of the legislative session and Republicans have made it clear that they’re ready to gavel out early for an extended vacation. Even with some wins, there is still so much to do.

I want to take a moment to recognize the countless people who fought for and won postpartum Medicaid expansion in Wisconsin. This win means that women in our state will keep their healthcare for a full year rather than 60 days after giving birth. This win will save lives.

Postpartum medicaid expansion and a bill to expand access to breast cancer screenings have just passed the Assembly and are on their way to Governor Evers’ desk.

I wish Speaker Vos well in his retirement. While we have many differences in our approach to serving Wisconsinites, I want to recognize his many years of public service.

Finally.  The people of Wisconsin have been asking Legislative Republicans to pass postpartum medicaid expansion for years and years and years.

We are business Assembly business today until we take action to move postpartum Medicaid expansion and Gail’s Law forward.

Legislative Republicans continue to prioritize culture wars over the real issues facing Wisconsinites. On the Assembly floor today, they went to every possible length to avoid a vote to protect access to abortion and the right to contraception in Wisconsin.

I loved getting the chance to meet interns from the Wisconsin Community Youth Corps and learn about some of the research they’re doing on foster care in Racine County. I’m lucky to have young leaders like them in my district and excited to see what comes next for them!

Today, Chairwoman Nicole Boyd from the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa delivered the 2026 State of the Tribes. It was a privilege to hear about the contributions, challenges, and triumphs of Wisconsin’s sovereign tribal nations in this year’s address to members of the legislature.

We as Americans want our government to protect our rights and to create safe and welcoming communities. We want our government to make it easier to afford healthcare, to send our kids to a great public school, and to support our families to thrive.

Another totally unnecessary tragedy. These masked, armed, and untrained ICE agents are totally out of control and making Minneapolis less safe. This has all gone too far, and the President needs to put an end to this. Get ICE out of Minneapolis.

In a moment like this, it is especially important for us to take a moment to reflect on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

We all share a commitment to protecting kids in school and ensuring they can safely learn and grow. This is one of our top priorities as Assembly Democrats.

Since 2007, people from every corner of the state, from Racine to Superior, have been able to tune in to watch our work in the Capitol and see what’s happening here with their own eyes. Until today.

I watched the videos of Renee Good’s death in horror. I am heart broken for her children, for her wife, for Minneapolis, and for our country. This moment has gravity not only because of her tragic loss, but because of how Trump and his administration have responded to it.

Lack of access to affordable housing is one of the main concerns I hear from constituents in my district. From first-time homebuyers to longtime residents on a fixed income, folks are struggling to afford the housing they need.

As I reflect on the year, I’m grateful for a whole lot, but especially my wedding! Hudson and I got married last summer in Racine County and it was the most incredible day. I want to thank some amazing local folks who helped make it so special!

2025 is quickly coming to an end, and I want to wish everyone in my district and across Wisconsin a very Happy Holidays!

This year certainly had its challenges, but I’m hopeful that there are better times ahead. Next year, we’ll continue our work to deliver for Wisconsinites. Legislative Democrats will remain focused on lowering costs and improving the lives of Wisconsinites.

Instead of being able to think about putting gifts under the tree and traveling to see loved ones, folks are bracing for a huge spike in their healthcare premiums starting in 2026.

WisconsinEye has made it possible for anyone, from Racine to Superior, to tune in to watch our work in the Capitol. We can’t allow their services to disappear.

I want to offer my deepest condolences to everyone affected by yesterday’s horrific, antisemitic attack in Sydney. No one should have to fear for their lives because of the beliefs they hold and the holidays they celebrate. Antisemitism cannot be tolerated.

This is transformative news for the City of Racine. For years, I’ve advocated for funding to replace our community’s outdated lead service lines and ensure that the water coming from our taps is safe.

Those who know me know I love the holiday season. I loved stopping by the Festival of Trees, DeKoven Christmas Fair, Eco-Justice Center and Eave's Christmas Pop Up this weekend. Lots of great ways to get into the spirit here in Racine County!

During the holiday season, families should be able to focus on buying gifts for their children and traveling to see loved ones. Instead, people are worried about rising costs and how they’re going to make ends meet.

Today, the Capitol Holiday Tree was lit, and I am filled with gratitude for the ways I’ve seen folks come together to support each other through this year’s difficult moments. Let’s continue looking out for one another in the year ahead.

Preventing new moms from accessing a full year of postpartum healthcare is just wrong. Wisconsin remains one of the last two states that have failed to pass this measure, as Republican leadership continues to block it.

As many of you know, data center proposals and projects are coming to Wisconsin. People are raising really valid concerns about these projects and their impact on our communities. That’s why I’ve co-authored a bill to increase accountability and transparency for these projects.
