I feel like there should be a limit on how many sitcom-style misadventures one person can be subjected to in a year.

Writing myself a list of tasks for Computer Mouse and it's starting to sound like I'm designing some sort of sales system. I've started making every 3 or 4 tasks extra whimsical to balance it out.

Finally back to adding new features to Computer Mouse after a couple weeks of rewriting and optimization. Now got a working in-game shop for components, and the physics on items has been completely reworked!

On the bright side, built a developer console. Weirdly excited about this, and it's already made testing so much easier!

Started working on Computer Mouse after a short break, had an idea on how to make it easier to handle the random generation, should just be a quick fix. So I've spent the last five days rewriting most of the game.

I need to get back into Blender at some point.

The problem is that artists are focusing too much on things like "aeathetic" and "visual direction" and not on the big picture which is that their game could simply look worse at higher resolution. It's better because it's more.

If computer parts weren't expensive, more people could access them and maybe make even cooler shit than a filter that makes your conventionally attractive character look a bit more conventionally attractive.

It would be cool if they stopped inventing stupid shit that keeps computer parts insanely expensive

Been taking a break from programming in mechanics to do some visdev, work out how I want the game to look. Think I'm leaning towards a cleaner low-poly look, though haven't yet started with proper textures.

I feel like there's a specific category of psychological horror films I really, really want to enjoy, but always end up feeling disappointed by.

Got a very basic gameplay loop in place for Computer Mouse, have started blocking out what the game space itself might look like. Leaning towards a more 2000s/early 2010s look to the computers - chunky hard drives and 4:3 monitors. More satisfying, I think.

Interesting new bug: RAM can go negative somehow.

Another fun thing about the scale: sometimes fixing the computer becomes a platforming puzzle, and you have to make the platforms yourself. Like using a hard drive, for example.

While I've got a win condition in mind for Computer Mouse, I was also thinking about replayability. With that in mind: randomly generating computer layouts. Next step: randomly generated computer issues!

Been learning Moho, really nice program to work with so far. I just wish it had a native Linux version.

I'm all for moving from Discord to another platform (have been ready for it for a while, tbh). I think the problem is it's hard to convince people when no one app replaces everything Discord does functionally, you'd probably need 2 or 3 different apps.

Out of interest, anyone got any experience with VPS/server hosts? Any recommendations?

Further progress on Computer Mouse! Added a 2nd (wow!) component type, and testing out checks for if components are 1) present and 2) healthy.

I think the sense of scale is definitely part of the novely here, need to play around more and work out what the sweet spot is. Making the components feels more fun, just worried about it becoming a little impractical to play.

For any Linux Animators: Moho Pro 14.4 appears to run well through Bottles with Proton 10.28! Had to disable VKD3D and add d3dcompiler_47 as a dependency, will add replies if I come across any other quirks.
