My local chat spent hours on the “bad apple” policing debate. Two points: 1. U.S. policing grew out of systems built to control enslaved people and protect slaveholder interests. 2. One bad apple doesn’t stay separate. Its rot spreads to all the supposedly unspoiled, idealistic apples.

Poetry Foundation announced a "new direction" and they're dumping everything to focus exclusively on grantmaking. It's a huge loss for Chicago and the poetry community at large. I respect grantmaking to artists but why make that your exclusive focus. Lilly left a $200M endowment. This sucks.
