I tested the new battery today and noticed that when I was transmitting using 50w the radio would briefly reboot. Power draw issue? I need to check the SWR on the antenna as well in case it has gone high for some reason and the radio is doing some self preservation.

After jerry rigging my mast to the car wheel on Tuesday for an activation, I got myself a drive on mount. A couple of 3D printed spacers and we are good to go. No scissors or dusters here @timg5tm.bsky.social 😂

In other news, I applied for a passport yesterday; my old one was well expired. I have to say the whole system has improved massively. Less than 40 minutes end-to-end. So much better than having to get things wet-signed to prove identity.

So, after my pointless email exchange with Nick from the RSGB competitions team yesterday, I have heard nothing more, so I assume I am excluded from taking part in the BBC Longwave closedown activation. Not sure if it is worth the membership fee if this is how they treat members who question them.

Pointless hills I will die on, Wednesday episode. Arguing with someone from the RSGB about RSLs and suffixes and what they actually ask for when people want to take part in an event.

A rough install of the IC-2730 in the car. I need to route the cables a bit better and add a proper battery connection, it is running off a cigar lighter plug right now while I work out the wiring. But I think the location is ok, doesn't interfere with anything, easy to see and reach.
