Ngl, I'm usually pretty wary when it comes to talking about visual novels on social media, despite being a genre of "game" that I love equally, if not even more than musous, it also happens to be the genre that attracts the most *insufferable* people online, especially the kinds of VNs I read.

I should try to be more active on here again since I've had so little to say about DW4 progress, I got too reliant on stream announcements as my obligatory I'm Not Dead posts, and I've been too busy lately to make fast progress on musous I should pull out the emergency visual novel yapping button...

I know it's a bit early to be thinking about this considering that I've made such slow progress that I'm *still* in the grinding phase of Dynasty Warriors 4, and barely even past the halfway point of that grinding, but I wonder what musou I'll play next? 🤔🤔🤔

Finally finished scanning one of the worst books I've ever decided to archive, I'd been dreading this one for months and it was just as bad as I expected ;-; Falling apart at the spine, super dirty, several hundred pages, and it's the best guidebook for DW4, so I couldn't even put it off any longer!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the spine of 1 of my guidebooks broke off while I was scanning it ;-; RIP Shin Sangokumusou 3 Maniax... It was in *really* bad condition when I got it so it was expected, but I still hate letting books fall apart ;-;

My main non-musou game I've been playing for the last month has been Twilight Princess and it's really made me realize that I just... don't like 3D Zelda gameplay. I always knew I hated OOT but I guess it's just not the series for me in general 😔

After scanning like 15 strategy guidebooks between Dynasty Warriors 3 and 4 I've noticed that they all have like, "filler" segments. They all have some unique information so they're not a complete waste of time, but at least 40% or more of some of them just feels entirely unnecessary.

I feel like grinding is so much more boring in DW4 compared to DW3 (even though I think it's actually a bit faster) and it's entirely because they removed the stat item combo rewards! The only thing you get from high combos in DW4 is a tiny bit of extra weapon experience which is so not worth it.

Ngl I was kinda a hater of mounted combat in Dynasty Warriors 3, but it's soooo improved in DW4, I actually enjoy it with certain characters! Foundationally it's no different, and for most characters I still think it sucks, but they gave unique mounted movesets to a lot of characters this time.

Now that I've tried all of the new Dynasty Warriors 4 characters (Zhou Tai, Cao Ren, and Yue Ying), they're good :) I do prefer a lot of the characters DW3 introduced (there were also way more of them, but obviously I can't expect every game to add 10+ new characters) but Zhou Tai is neat enough

A few months ago while I was still working through Warriors All-Stars I mentioned that I wanted to eventually stream at least 1 entry in all of the series that have crossover characters in that game, I think tomorrow I'll finally start that!

Originally I was kinda disappointed by how minor the character moveset changes were in Dynasty Warriors 4 compared to DW3, but I was wrong. Most characters are barely changed, with maybe 1 new strong-attack or some stat changes, but for a few characters that alone is enough to make them way better!

I'm not sure whether to stream today or not, because on one hand I do have the free time this morning to be able to, but I'm also now in the super boring part of Dynasty Warriors 4 where all I'm doing for the next 30 hours is grinding. Maybe now is the time to find another non-musou game to stream 🤔

Ok, finally I have every Tales stage and every rare item collected in Dynasty Warriors 4! Of course that doesn't include Xtreme Legends' items, but ngl, the item unlocks in this game were way too easy and boring, also very few of them are actually useful in my opinion lmao

I'm going through all of the rare items in Dynasty Warriors 4 now, and to be fair most of the rare item objectives in DW3 weren't amazing, but they feel even more lackluster in 4... A few are almost exactly the same as their requirements in 3, and the rest are either boring or slightly confusing.

I've been refraining from playing Dynasty Warriors 4 much off-stream until I finish all of Musou Mode on-stream, but as soon as that's done progress is gonna go by so much faster, from what I've gathered completing all of base DW4 (excluding Xtreme Legends) doesn't actually seem too time-consuming!

This is some of the saddest news I've heard all year, VNDB has been one of my favorite websites for over a decade, and the contributions its creator has had on the English speaking visual novel community are massive.

Nanman Musou Mode was somehow even worse than I expected... I could go on for way too long about how bad Meng Huo is without his C6, so I already expected that to be hell, but despite being a really short Musou Mode with only 4 stages, somehow 2 of them were some of the worst stages in the game ;-;

Most characters have the exact same kit, or at least mostly the same in Dynasty Warriors 4 as they did in DW3, and that's mostly fine because I thought they were overall really well designed characters, but it also means that the few characters that really needed some adjustments don't get them.
