I have been teaching in special education for a bit now. I remember the switch from being the one asking others how to do things to being the one asked how to do things. Surprise, surprise, I use the manual for every IEP.

There is an inherent problem with AI art. Evidently, I am Steven Segal and my portrait drawn by a student is Alf. Just don't do AI art, kids. Get art from real artists. They can make you into an x-wing pilot.

The secret perk of migrating from Outlook to Gmail at work is a lot less emails from teachers. I believe they are less tech savvy than they think. But probably just lazy and don't keep a tab open. Either way I am fine with it. I do get a lot more teachers visiting my room.

I often joke that we will become family with my students' parents. It occasionally turns true. It has been 5 years since her daughter graduated. We still keep in touch and support each other. Today she brought me lunch and news. There were tears and laughter. We shall always hold on to them.

I was "late" this morning. I have been working for the last 30 minutes and still have 20 minutes before school starts. I totally feel behind. I am also weird.

There is no before only after. First day of school with the students. 🥱

The weekend is the calm before the students and the class of 2026 have their last first day.

I watched a new show yesterday. I mean all of it. I enjoyed it. But, the last few minutes wrecked me. So much so that I woke up at 2 AM still bothered by it. I am ok with setting things up for another season but what they did caused damage. If there is a season 2, I am not sure I would watch.

I guess it is that time of the year again. School photos.

I usually work on a sleep schedule before the new school year. Clearly I didn't do that this year as it is 1:20 AM. Heading into year 24.

Just completed my true end of summer routine: the annual online training. I swear it is getting longer. 6 hours of videos and quizzes. Back to school on Monday.

Got to spend the day with my youngest brother and his family. We went to a Bay FC friendly. The kids had a great day.

Hmm, halfway through my summer and my hypertension is under control even a bit low at times. Imagine that my stress levels are lower during the summer. 🤔

Hmm, I've known them all their lives. This was the first time they took me to the airport. I was up there for his HS graduation. Up next is her college graduation in the spring. All week I was reminded that I was born in the 1900s. Time flies and we get old. 👴 But the memories are still magic.

Spending the day with my found family niece. We enjoy each other's company and can spend time just silently enjoying each other's presence. I held her as a baby and now she is heading into her last year of college. 👴
