A map is a tool for navigation, not a theming exercise. It should be to scale, it should use a font which maximises readability, it should avoid the use of block capitals, it should have good colour contrast, it should not be significantly harder to use with any form of colour vision deficiency.

I have fairly strong opinions on con maps, partly because I actually made one, once upon a time. It was imperfect, and I don't think I achieved all of my goals, but I think my priorities were broadly correct.

When you see furry events consistently not using alt text, a decision is being made. When you see furry events making things like their signage or convention maps without considerations for people with visual impairments, such as reduced contrast or CVD, a decision is being made. Not cool.

Had a very fun evening getting a resurfaced (before photo in the post) Kirby game to work with my Wii. I got it as part of a bundle a year or two ago (for a few quid), and resurfacing cost less than £10. I thought the resurfacing had failed at first, as backing it up was slow, but all is well!
