september is almost over. milena writes about the "frantic carousel" of leaves blowing from the streets to the rooftops on frozen november nights in vienna in an article entitled "dance over the abyss", and i am imagining the loose hair and long coats of yohji yamamoto’s fw 1999 collection.

I've a friend whose condo association removed a tree outside her home which hid 8 cat shelters she'd placed there for neighborhood ferals she cares for. As a result she lost $500 worth of cat shelters 😭 and now desperately needs these things in preparation for winter. Please help or share! 🖤

This is not the AI boom creating a new type of work, this is a classic example of managers using automation to deskill old ones. Creative workers who once made a higher wage creating original art and writing are now paid in piecework to edit automated output. Bosses are using AI to cut labor costs.

“Art offers some unspeakable truth... When two strangers are struck by a work of art and each invests it with a sense of their innermost being—perhaps involving trauma, memory or impossible desires—they relate to one another at a level of intimacy and vulnerability otherwise inaccessible.”

‘The artist, and particularly the poet, is always an anarchist in the best sense of the word. He must heed only the call that arises within him from three strong voices: the voice of death, with all its foreboding, the voice of love and the voice of art.’ Federico García-Lorca.

A few years ago I made a series of mini drawings of interesting Irish women (available as a print here

) - this thread is a little information on the women featured, partly because it's useful, but mostly because I'm trying to be sustainable by recycling content.
