I saw my bandmate Başla tonight at a party. I had an Astell & Kern hi-res player with me and I played her mixes from the album. Her response was euphoric and encouraging. At one point, we had a kind of Harry Met Sally “I’ll have what she’s having” scene because Başla kept banging the table.

Underrated album: VCMG “Ssss.” VCMG = duo of Vince Clark and Martin Gore, the chief songwriters of different periods of Depeche Mode. (Clark early, Gore later.) This album is pure techno and (perversely?) almost devoid of melody. Extraordinary when you consider the catchy hits each has written.
