Thinking a lot about making sure my westmarch game doesn't become a colonial power fantasy. Reclaiming homeland from tyrants, enabling native populations get out from under the boot of foreign suppressors, supporting their cause without being saviors etc. All are good. Need more mechanics tho

Combat system seemed to work really well in play. A lot of the typical irritations I've had in other systems when trying to making rulings don't appear here, especially for grappling. Made a wrong ruling though for the wounds, but I guess I just need to do that better in the future. Lots of ideas!

I think I have a toxic relationship with dnd 3.5. I love her dearly, she reminds me of good times and I can see past her flaws. But if I think too long about flaws and better ways to go about game design, I start to hate her, but yet I favor complexity above simplicity and I don't like that.
