Finally got back home to Shetland from the @greenparty.org.uk conference this morning. The far right have been ascendant since the pandemic, but a new political movement is growing in the Greens that has the potential to change the country. The political tide is turning.

Jenrick could have visited Handsworth to listen to residents – he chose to pass through and make a judgement based on the colour of their skin. Instead of getting to know our nation of neighbours, he chose racism. The Tories, Reform and Labour want to divide us. The Greens say enough is enough.

Two dozen hardy campaigners were battling a stiff northerly wind today (Saturday) as they were walking to 30 miles from Sumburgh to Lerwick to raise funds to help alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Shetland’s South Mainland is a strip of land similar in size to the Gaza Strip. On Saturday we’ll be walking a 30 mile, 15hr route from Sumburgh Lighthouse to Lerwick, in solidarity with Gaza. We’ll be raising funds to stop genocide and relieve the suffering of Palestinian folk. Link in thread

I subscribed to daily email updates from the Israeli newspaper Haaretz in October 2023. Unbound by the threat of vexatious accusations of antisemitism, you find a lot more brave journalism coming from these Israeli reporters than much of the British media.
