Tinkering around the edges of community benefit policies don't go far enough. Cllr @alexjarmitage.bsky.social has got it right. We need bold intervention from the Scottish Government to promote more community wind!

The Shetland Greens have made huge gains in recent years, including electing Cllr @alexjarmitage.bsky.social to an otherwise very independent-minded council. It's been great chatting to people today about the reasons for that growing support, like our work to tackle the shortage of housing.

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage was met with protests from Green representatives when he arrived in Lerwick, including the party’s constituency candidate @alexjarmitage.bsky.social

Farage visited Shetland today. We do not welcome his toxic politics of division. I’m proud of all the Shetlanders who mobilised at short notice to stand up to the far right on the streets of Lerwick.

On my way down to Manchester from Shetland for the Gorton and Denton by election to support @greenpartyhan.bsky.social and @zackpolanski.bsky.social This one is going down to the wire- we need all hands on deck.

Energy corporations do not have our interests at heart. They will extract as much wealth and power as they are allowed to. We need to elect politicians that can stand up to corporate power, not those who are beholden to it.

Drug barons aren’t afraid of the police. They’re afraid of @zackpolanski.bsky.social. The Greens’ policy to legalise and regulate all drugs means that we’re the party that is toughest on crime.

Finally got back home to Shetland from the @greenparty.org.uk conference this morning. The far right have been ascendant since the pandemic, but a new political movement is growing in the Greens that has the potential to change the country. The political tide is turning.

Jenrick could have visited Handsworth to listen to residents – he chose to pass through and make a judgement based on the colour of their skin. Instead of getting to know our nation of neighbours, he chose racism. The Tories, Reform and Labour want to divide us. The Greens say enough is enough.
