Great weekend campaigning with Shetland Greens for the Hollywood elections on the 7th of May. We are gaining one new member every single day at the moment. Many voters are switching to the Greens and it’s clear that we’re building a strong movement for the future in Shetland.

Police officers support the Greens BECAUSE of our drugs policy

On my way down to Manchester from Shetland for the Gorton and Denton by election to support @greenpartyhan.bsky.social and @zackpolanski.bsky.social This one is going down to the wire- we need all hands on deck.

Energy corporations do not have our interests at heart. They will extract as much wealth and power as they are allowed to. We need to elect politicians that can stand up to corporate power, not those who are beholden to it.

Drug barons aren’t afraid of the police. They’re afraid of @zackpolanski.bsky.social. The Greens’ policy to legalise and regulate all drugs means that we’re the party that is toughest on crime.

Shetland consultant paediatrician and councillor @alexjarmitage.bsky.social is proposing policy to “unambiguously” end prohibition of drugs in Scotland, and ensure distribution of the most dangerous drugs is controlled by health professional.

Shaetlan has finally been recognised as a language in its own right. The recognition comes after the local language was given its own ISO code by SIL Global, the organisation that handles the international Ethnologue database has been tasked with the handling of international language ISO codes.

Finally got back home to Shetland from the @greenparty.org.uk conference this morning. The far right have been ascendant since the pandemic, but a new political movement is growing in the Greens that has the potential to change the country. The political tide is turning.

Jenrick could have visited Handsworth to listen to residents – he chose to pass through and make a judgement based on the colour of their skin. Instead of getting to know our nation of neighbours, he chose racism. The Tories, Reform and Labour want to divide us. The Greens say enough is enough.
