Leicester set to expand into the county Dear readers – this week, it was revealed that Leicester's boundary expansion has been given the green light by the government, meaning that the city's population will almost double once the plans come into effect. The county council has previously expressed this year that it “strongly opposed” the city's boundary expansion. In other news, the city mayor Peter Soulsby unveiled an £11m package to tackle dirt in the city centre.
