Justice was denied for decades — tonight’s vote to release the Epstein files is years overdue. Pedophiles don’t get protection. This is a win for the brave survivors who endured unimaginable horror. Now President Trump must sign the bill immediately and release ALL the files.

Honored to speak at the Preschool Development Grant Birth-to-Five Symposium. These grants help expand access to preschool, support early educators & give every child a strong foundation. While this admin cuts early childhood funding, I will keep fighting to protect this vital resource for our keiki.

Two federal judges have ruled what we knew all along — the administration can and MUST release the $6 billion SNAP contingency funds so families can put food on the table. Proud Hawaiʻi stood up as a plaintiff state to say: do what’s right, follow the law, don’t hold hungry people hostage.

Visited Mālama I Ke Ola Health Center to mahalo their team for caring for Maui’s most vulnerable, from keiki to kūpuna. With over 50% of their funding from Medicaid, the Big Ugly Law threatens their lifesaving work. There is only one choice: Reopen government AND protect life saving healthcare.

The only king I acknowledge is King Kamehameha & his lineage. There are no dictators in America. To House and Senate Republicans: Stop acting like servants. Do your job. Protect healthcare for millions of Americans. Let's reopen the government.

My DWC colleagues and I visited Speaker Johnson's (empty) office, demanding that Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva be sworn in immediately. House Republicans fear she'll be the final member needed to force a vote to release the Epstein files. Do your duty. Swear her in.

Back in D.C. this week along with my Democratic colleagues to continue pushing for an end to the government shutdown—waiting for House Republicans to come to the negotiating table so that we can save healthcare & keep critical services running. Also gave a peek of what I brought back with me.

Visited O‘ahu’s air traffic controllers to share a heartfelt mahalo for their dedication in keeping our skies safe during the shutdown. Many are working mandatory overtime & without pay as staffing shortages worsen. I'm pushing for the government to reopen so these workers no longer go without pay.

Visited the Hawai‘i Foodbank to discuss how the federal shutdown will impact food security across our islands. When paychecks stop and benefits are delayed, hunger will grow. Mahalo to the Hawai‘i Foodbank for stepping up for our community & ensuring no one in Hawai‘i goes hungry.

Got to visit UH Hilo’s College of Pharmacy & connect with students about current issues they're facing today—such as Tylenol and pregnancy. Their passion and skill makes it clear that we need to grow more pharmacists like them, and make sure they can build their careers right here at home.

Visited Molokaʻi General Hospital, Hospice Maui's Molokaʻi Clinic & Molokai Family & Urgent Care Clinic to talk healthcare access & what OBBA cuts to Medicaid & Medicare could mean to their operations. Reliable air transport is a critical part of accessing care that I will continue to fight for!

Molokaʻi is the last island free of the coconut rhinoceros beetle & we must keep it that way. Met w/Aunty Lori Buchanan from the Moloka'i/Maui Invasive Species Committee about what it will take to protect the island. With the right tools, policies, and resources, we will keep Molokaʻi CRB free.

Republicans are claiming that states can bear the burden of SNAP. The catastrophic reality is that millions—including half the children in Hawaiʻi—will be left hungry if state programs close. Empty EBT cards mean empty plates for millions of families. Hunger should never be a partisan issue.

I was deeply honored to attend the funeral of Maui Police Officer Suzanne O, who tragically died in the line of duty on August 15. Her legacy of kindness and strength lives on in all those she inspired and protected. May we honor Officer O by striving for the peace she gave her life to uphold.
