The anti-abortion movement weaponizes ‘parental rights’ to target youth abortion access/abortion broadly—only for state agents to then go after parents who help their children access abortion as 'unfit' or even abusive. @ifwhenhow.bsky.social's work on this issue is indispensable:

"The measure could result in a parent going to jail for helping a daughter end a pregnancy." Multiple moms have already been criminalized for doing just that and this law could make things even worse.

In one state, CPS took a teenager from her home to prevent her from having an abortion—threatening her mother with murder charges if she helped her daughter get out-of-state care. Another mother was investigated by CPS and police for helping her teen get an abortion *in a pro-choice state*
