On top of this -- I feel like I should not ask for help because I'm going to GenCon. We're conditioned that we cannot do "luxury" things while still struggling or asking for help from others. Despite that it's already paid for & what I spend there will be minimal compared to my responsibilities.

This summer has also been a good reflection on asking for help. As a society we often look down on asking for help and mutual aid as begging or looking for handouts. But then conversely, folks get upset with the "well why didn't you ask for help?" It feels like a no-win situation.

Viewing an apartment today. I can't afford a deposit or anything right now. But. I'm in the "something will work out" no-panic mode cause the alternative is kind of nonexistent. I *have* to move. My folks likely wouldn't let me be homeless. But it wouldn't be ideal to move w/ them.

I kind of miss treatstream... having someone just buy you a pizza or burritos... (can you tell I'm attempting to budget?)

Overdraft fees are bullshit. “We’re going to give you til the end of the business day (ie ~6 hrs) to find money you don’t have, or we’re going to charge you for being broke.” So now instead of being $63 overdrawn, I’m now $97. I still don’t get paid til the 18th. And I bet you I get another fee.

Birthday is in 2 days! Celebrating by working and probably disassociating. I won’t lie. Life is tough right now. While I have a job I love, and am successful and happy in grad school, there are still many ways I feel like a failure. It is possible to feel great joy and shame at the same time.

I can’t wait for the semester to start so I can have my student loans and not have a bank account with only $1. 🫠
