Yes the NPC is really annoying, I haven't figured out a way to kill him yet, but aside from Metroid Dread - I doon't think the Metroid franchise has ever gotten voice acting right. Just kind of lame how painful the NPC is. As a positive note after his intro you don't hear too much from him.
