Sometimes I visit the Cape Fur seals colony here in Namibia in Cape Cross. It boggles my mind how the animals live there on and around their dead companions and family members. The stench of decay is incomprehensible. The seagulls peck at the carcasses of the dead pubs. Absolutely wild.

There should be more games inspired by avant-garde stage design.

David Lynch - A huge and sad loss. A remarkably unique and very talented filmmaker. It was such a truly great pleasure to work with him. If his name was in the credits, you knew the film was really worth seeing. I will miss him.

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) The way a musical should feel. Dom Deluise kills it.

The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (1943) Masterclass in acting.

Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives (2010) Instantly fell in love with this one.

High profile 2024 movies that i liked Challengers I Saw the TV Glow Civil War The Substance

#MissingCouple (2024) Found footage from the POV of TikTok influencers. Has what every ff film needs: naturalistic acting and believable camera work. Well-made.

Daddy’s Head (2024) I guess this one flew under the radar, but it’s good. Babadook-ian for sure. Good acting and creature design. Good sound design.

Dead Calm (1989) Had never heard of this one. Early Nicole Kidman. Beautiful cinematography, great score.

every year around christmas time the ballet dancers who play the rats in the nutcracker come out with a series of unexplained banger tiktok videos and anyway this is my favorite part of the holiday season

All of the elite responses to the UHC/Luigi thing seem incapable of grasping that people broadly recognize now that the Proper Channels they insist everyone should direct their grievances into are designed to waste your time, take your money, or both.

I wish people did their “best of the year” stuff in January. We’ve got nothing else going on that month.

Waiting for Babylon to get the credit it deserves. Masterpiece of filmmaking.
