The real reason game companies are trying to move away from true physical releases is to prevent you from ripping the files off the disk/cart for emulation. This generation of games will be the hardest to preserve.

The only new consoles I'm planning to buy are emulation handhelds and maybe the Game Tank simply because the concept of an open source console pleases me deeply.

I drank a little of an Arizona tea today that was Very Spoiled and immediately threw up. I popped my meds in my mouth, took a big gulp and swallowed before I even tasted it and THEN realized how bad my mouth tasted. I'm never buying Arizona again, that shit was chunky when I dumped it out.

"The game should be free if it's shorter than 2 hours" No, devs deserve to earn money for their work still. If a short time means free, then the movie industry is screwed. "There's no point in releasing a game if it's under 2 hours" There's plenty of reasons, and they can still be fun to play.

I don't think games going 100% digital is a bad thing - there are so many games that wouldn't have been released if it weren't for digital. What's bad is the fact that we don't OWN our digital games, we license them. That license can be rescinded at any time (and already has for countless games).

I do wish PC games came on physical still but I think it should be on flash based USB cartridges, like a flash drive but made specifically for that game and like... Themed after it too?? I think that'd be sick, and flash drives can hold a ton of data too.

Personally I'm not upset with game devs making games so large they won't fit on one disk because I remember when some games used to come on multiple disks anyways, I think we could still probably do that and the real problem is that big companies like Sony just don't care to anymore.

If you REAALLYYYY wanna make video content for gaming, but can't afford a $400 streaming PC, consider making YouTube videos instead and go with around a $200 gaming PC for low spec games. Something like an i7 2600 and an rx 460 will get you started, lots of indie and older games will run on that.

Okay yeah, an i7 4790, 32gb ddr3, an rx 580 8gb, 480gb SSD, motherboard with the capacity for 4 sticks of ram, a case with fans and a 500w psu is a little over $400 with shipping and taxes, used parts on eBay. Streaming is not out of reach my friends.

Just scrolled through eBay for a bit and yeah! About $450 before taxes, around $500 after taxes. Borderline the same specs aside from a 480GB ssd instead of a 512GB- you can reasonably build a Streaming PC for like $500 used parts. Probably less than that if you go with a low gen Intel CPU, but-

One of the big reasons I prefer PC gaming to consoles is the ability to customize your PC to your needs. I like that I can plan a build for what I want out of it and get Exactly what I want, nothing more nothing less.

We should be trying to get digital game sales to be more fair to the customer and making sure that physical games remain an option too, not arguing or shaming people for preferring one or the other. I want more digital games that are actually copies of the game file! Not just permission to use them!

The retroid pocket 5 is around $250, and you can either run game native/game hub off the original android OS on it to play steam games, or you can download Rocknix and steamOS onto that and run it as a Linux device. Handheld PC gaming ain't dead y'all. It just quietly moved to ARM devices.

i hate the ram and storage price hikes, but i find the "video games are over" sentiment pretty odd... you either keep using the devices you already have (and developers now have an incentive to keep supporting them!) or you wait a bit longer to save up for your upgrade. things will keep going.
