Alrighty, I've done some basic UI for the quest system on Logistik tonight! It's dynamic (supports translations and different modifiers/rewards) behind the scenes. That means I should be able to create various quest types with little to no changes to this code :) #indiegamedev #solodev #trains

I'm still alive! I've been quiet for few days, because I was finishing my year of teaching. Everything has been marked today, so back to gamedev! I sent my demo build for review to Valve on Monday, it's been refused because of a 404 linking to the itchio version of the game. It has been resubmitted

Fun fact, until yesterday, I had no visual button to quit game saves in Logistik, you had to press the escape key. 3 days ago, I realized some players may be trapped in game because of that when preparing the demo for Valve 😂 So I had to fix this (spoiler: it was a 5 minutes fix) #indiegamedev

I'm "teaching" today. Meaning I'm waiting while students do their projects and ask a question (spoiler: they don't). So most of the time, I'm just on my computer. That's the perfect time to work on lots of small UI/UX improvements on Logistik :) Like this "passed station" animation on the right tab

Alright, this weekend, I must submit the demo build to Valve. Even if it's not perfect. I'm only 3.5ish weeks away from the train fest. I can update/improve it in the next weeks, but it has to be ready to be released asap.

Playing a bit with the map editor on Logistik to make some maps for the demo version, and it works pretty well! I still see some UX improvements and would love more things for the background (like mountains or cities), but it's a start :) This one took about 5 min #indiegamedev #solodev #trains

Lots of you know I'm creating a game about trains. Lots of you know I do gamedev using web technologies. But did you know my day job (in freelance) is to work on web apps for a train company? Yes. I think I like my work a bit too much ahah 😂

Internet really lacks of nuance, ffs. I can't believe I'm seeing people putting on the same level Unity shitty policies (e.g. runtime fees), Epic Game anti-developers/newcomers policies (blueprint removal, MCP servers, …), and Godot "only" refusing most GenAI PR instead of all of them. (1/?)

First time being able to do gamedev in weeks! I just fixed a "minor" UX issue that was bothering me for a while. I found the fix while driving two weeks ago 😄 It may seem a little, but it took me a while to figure I could simply create a transparent hitbox and it just works #indiegamedev #solodev

Yeah, my todo-list is already pretty busy... But I've got the idea to write a devblog because I started working on my first real game 10 years ago. So, yeah, new item in to-do list 😄

I was a bit scared about the new steam homepage, because of the popular upcoming shenanigans. But actually, it looks pretty cool. The personal calendar show a wide variety of game size, I've got 4 out of 10 games that are in the 500-1k follower range, and matching my interests!

So, as you guessed, I went on holidays (that was nice! Sweden & Denmark are lovely!), and didn't have the time to finish the feature. This week-end, I have to grade my students projects (not motivated to do it), and then we'll see what time I have left for some good ol' gamedev! :)

At lunch I implemented the stupidest code I ever wrote to handle rate limit and spread load on different workers. In theory, I have the right amount of calls to have no rate limit if the load is perfectly balanced, but not in reality So I just put a 5s delay whenever I get a 429... and it works 😂

First improvement of the day, to finish what I've done yesterday evening. Animations around train stations have been improved and stations are shown little biggerto help. We now can't see the assets appearing/disappearing as before. I really love how it looks! #indiegamedev #solodev #train
