The ACLU of Minnesota is devastated by this morning’s news that ICE shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis, and is calling for an immediate and transparent investigation into the shooting.

there is a point here i want to amplify. the free speech defenders of the mainstream seem to have no awareness that actual free speech is often more fractious and destabilizing than civil and respectful. a society where speech is genuinely free isn’t the deferential space they want it to be.

The Trump administration is villainizing and punishing those who dare to express anything but unequivocal support for its political views. Such censorship is profoundly harmful to a free society — but it can be stopped if we resist it together.
