I talked about the publc radio cuts on MSNBC this morning. Now that the deed is done, it's time to turn the page and reimagine a governance system without federal funding and the bureaucractic Corporation for Public Braodcasting. We can come out of this stronger, and we will.

Indeed! A Joan or two would be a lifeline to NPR/public radio and allow the system to develop a new, more resilience govenrance system - without a Corporaton for Public Broadcasting in the way. Always listen to Bill.

So much going on in this text, which was written — we could also say "lived" — by NPR's media reporter. The most important in my view are these words from a former CEO of NPR, Vivian Schiller. "Any evidence-based news organization that reports critically is going to be accused of left-wing bias."

NPR is one of the world’s great news organizations. Accusations of bias are unwarranted and the cuts will harm smaller stations in red and blue states alike. THAT SAID I've long believed journalism + gov't funding is a toxic brew. Let's build a new and healthy model for public radio.

Well said Katie. Meta is private company and as such is protected by the first amendment to platform and deplatform anybody they want at any time for any reason. (And yes, they had good reason to make the moves that they did.) This sets are terrible precedent.

Update: It's 1/22 and eggs still cost too much, the war in Ukraine is still on. Also, Trump pardoned the Proud Boys, threatened war on Panama, is making bank off the presidency with a cryptoscam, and is mad at a bishop for urging him to his face to have compassion and empathy.
